Textiles ministry seeks uniform excise rate for yarn, fabric
  In 2002-03 Budget, the textiles ministry would like the finance minister to consider fixing a “uniform” excise rate for yarns and fabrics, both cotton and man-made.
Industry calls for rationalisation of customs duty
  The textiles industry has sought reduction in customs duty on capital goods to 5 per cent to encourage fresh investments in polyester industry. Capital goods currently command an import duty of 25 per cent.
   
Cement sector seeks Rs 48,000 crore annual outlay for cheap housing
  Cement Manufacturers Association has urged the government to earmark an outlay of Rs 48,000 crore per year for the next five years a total of Rs 2,40,000 crore for promoting low cost housing, cement concrete roads and canal lining.
Subhash Chandra sells 2% in Zee for Rs 97 crore
  Zee Telefilms chairman Subhash Chandra has diluted his stake in the company by 2 per cent for a total consideration of Rs 97 crore. Mr Chandra has sold a total of 85,00,000 shares at Rs 115 per share.
