Star Plus lines up several new shows to beat KBC fatigue

Krishna Gopalan in Mumbai

KBC’s falling ratings and the apparent audience exhaustion with the show has spurred Star into action on the programming front. The channel has a slew of programmes lined up to retain its audiences. Star Plus has zeroed in on the 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. band on Wednesday to launch the Neena Gupta-hosted Kamzor Kadii Kaun. This new show will go on air on January 2 and will replace the channel’s mega game show Kaun Banega Crorepati on Wednesdays. This was confirmed by reliable media sources to The Financial Express.

Star officials were unavailable for comment on the issue.
This will be part of Star’s new programming initiative starting January next year. Star Plus had earlier announced that KBC would go off air on December 31 this year. It is learnt that the Amitabh Bachchan-hosted show will take a break and be back later next year. Junior KBC, the gameshow’s version for kids will now be replaced by two weekly serials—Bol Baby Bol and ‘Price is Right’. These two half-hour serials will be aired between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. on Sundays starting January 6 next year.

On Tuesdays, KBC will be replaced by Sanjeevani, a weekly serial in the 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. prime-time band. Sanjeevani is based on Chicago Hope, which is currently aired on Star World.
