Hughes companies seek a week’s time to clarify impact of merger
  Hughes Software and Hughes Tele.com (India) on Monday sought a week’s time from the Securities and Exchange Board of India to furnish details on the possible impact of the merger of US-based Hughes Electronics Corporation with EchoStar Communication Corporation.
Sensex closes 15 pts down as FIIs stay off markets
  Bourses snapped a three-day rally on the bourses in a lacklustre trading day as traders and investors await direction in the absence of any sustained purchases from foreign institutional investors.
   
BSE revises special margins on 29 stocks from November 5
  The Stock Exchange, Mumbai has revised special margins on 29 stocks with effect from November 5, 2001. The revised special margin of 25 per cent has been imposed on the basis of client-wise gross purchase, or sales position, with the exception of Infotech Enterprise which has been levied 50 per cent special margin.
Amfi certification for agents, distributors made mandatory
  In its move to improve the overall professional standards of agents and distributors of mutual fund products, the Securities and Exchange Board of India has made mandatory the certification programme of the Association of Mutual Funds in India from November 1, 2001.
