ISB
seeks exchange plans with B-schools abroad

Following the good response to its first one-year post-graduate
programme in management, the Indian School of Business (ISB),
Hyderabad, is gearing up for the next academic year, having
invited fresh applications for the second batch slated to
begin on May 13, 2002.
Importantly, ISB is exploring the possibility of introducing
exchange programmes with other business schools in Europe,
Asia and Australia for the next academic year. A doctoral
programme on business management and an executive programme
are also on the anvil next year to woo students in a big way.
ISB has now positioned itself to attract the same number of
over 1,000 applications or even more for its second batch
of PGP, slated to start on May 13, 2002, according to Mr Pramat
Sinha, the Dean of ISB.
For the second batch, applications from students will be accepted
in two phases. The first phase ends on October 31, 2001, and
the second phase by January 10, 2002. Students who miss the
opportunity during the first batch, have another opportunity
to qualify for the second batch.
The first batch had attracted over 1,000 applications for
130 seats. The first batch, with stringent norms like average
age of 26 years, average GMAT score of 690 and average work
experience of four years, has seen a wide response from manufacturing,
advertising, media, banking, finance and consulting industries
among others.
ISB believes that its approach is one of holistic developmen
to students. It seeks to provide the fundamentals of management
education along with the flexibility of individual exploration
in chosen areas of interest. The students will have the advantage
of having visiting faculty, drawn from global business schools
like Stanford, Harvard, Wharton, Kellogg as well as the University
of Chicago.
Mr Sinha pointed out that ISB’s objective is not mere placement.
Instead, it will help students find positions that offer the
right job-skill fit, at a level commensurate with their experience
and aspirations.
Meanwhile, another residential complex to accommodate more
students is under completion.
