Kale Consultants bags ticketing project from Air Portugal

Our eFE Bureau in Mumbai

Mumbai-based software firm Kale Consultants Ltd has bagged an order worth $250,000 from Air Portugal (TAP), the national airline of Portugal for Kale’s airline company solution - COPS. COPS provides ticket proration, ie, allocating value to a ticket in each travel segment in a particular journey and determining the revenue share of all the participating airlines involved.

Kale Consultants managing director Vipul Jain said despite the recent events of September 11, the company expects an excess of 100 per cent growth from its airline division.

The company also plans to invest approximately Rs 4 crore the following year in product enhancement.

Mr Jain added that the problem of over-capacity and falling profitability existed for some airlines. The September 11 event had just seen these problems snowball.

He said the airline industry would be preoccupied with the downsizing of capacity and consolidation and the impact of additional insurance and security requirements. But things would be back to normal a year from now, he asserted.

He said that the main impact on Indian software companies of the recent terrorist attacks was the delay in decision making.

Mr Jain added that their business was secure with more than 35 customers in the airline industry globally.
