Titan plans diversification

Bangalore, Oct 14: Watch and jewellery major Titan Industries Ltd plans to diversify into the business of writing instruments, sun glasses and leather accessories leveraging its brand name, a top company executive said on Sunday. “We are now looking at several opportunities to extend the Titan brand. We are trying to understand the market, evaluating the opportunity and potential available (in those three areas),” vice-president (sales and marketing) Bijou Kurien said.

Mr Kurien said all these three markets were handicapped by lack of marketing and reasonably unorganised and Titan, with its marketing capability, “tremendous design skills, wide distribution network and enviable retain chain” could do well. Asked if Titan is planning related diversification in view of the more or less stagnant watch market, he said, he did not think so.
