InteL is all set to bring its ‘Intel Developer Forum (IDF)’
to India in the fall of 2001. The event, which has so far
been held in US, Japan, Taiwan and China will be held in India
for the first time and is expected to bring together close
to 200 delegates during the one-day meet.
Addressing the media, Intel’s director for South Asia, Mr
Avtar Saini, said the IDF will focus on three areas—IA32/64
architecture (P4 and Itanium), networking & communications
and software solutions.
Mr Saini said India was currently focused on building software
applications for e-business and networking/communications.
‘‘In India, we are looking at segregating the work so that
all levels of work and people can function—right from the
high-volume work to high-end projects. Currently, we have
a 50:50 mix between high-end and specialised work. We are
also hoping that India might have a research lab soon,’’ he
said. The company also has been looking at expanding the operations
of companies that have been acquired by it.
