Excise slaps notice on Maruti

New Delhi, Sept 17: The central excise department (Delhi-III commissionerate) has issued a showcause notice to Maruti Udyog Limited for an alleged duty evasion of Rs 108.39 crore. The
notice was issued last week.

The show cause notice is also for demanding the mandatory penalty which is equivalent to the duty evasion amount under section 11-AC of Central Excise Law as well as interest at the rate of 24 per cent payable on these dues, a senior excise department official said.
