Delhi, Karnataka register jump in software, services exports

Delhi and Karnataka have registered a growth in the exports of IT software and services during 1999-2000 as against 1998-99, while Punjab, Haryana and Kerala have registered a downswing in their share.

An analysis carried out by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham) Digital Committee revealed that Delhi’s share has gone up from Rs 2,500 crore in 1998-99 to Rs 3928 crore and exports from Karnataka was Rs 4268 crore as against Rs 3450 crore during the period.

Though, during 1998-99, Haryana had registered an export of Rs 1100 crore Punjab Rs 30 crore and Kerala Rs 70 crore during the year 1999 - 2000 it has gone down to Rs 973 crore, Rs 16 crore and Rs 24 crore in 1999-2000. In the case of West Bengal, there was an increase of Rs 167 crore, Uttar Pradesh Rs 246 crore, Rajasthan Rs 12 crore, Tamil Nadu Rs 688 crore, Andhra Pradesh Rs 574 crore, Maharashtra Rs 688 crore and Gujarat Rs 341 crore. The total exports during 1998-99 was Rs 12500 crore and in 1999-2000 Rs 17,300 crore.
