BPL Mobile unveils miHearmail

Our eFE Bureau in Mumbai

BPL Mobile announced the launch of its new service miHearmail in Mumbai on Monday. This new service will be on the unified messaging service (UMS) platform.

Announcing the launch of miHearmail, Girish Rangan, executive director and CEO, BPL Mobile Communications, said this is in line with his company’s launch of new services since last year. “miHearmail allows the user to manage his email through a human voice,” he said. This is done through speech recognition technology where text messages are converted to voice interface.

“The mobile today is not just a communication device and has evolved into performing a variety of functions,” said Mr Rangan. BPL Mobile, he explained, was part of the ‘migeneration’ referring to mobile internet. “migeneration, besides mobile Internet, is also a part of the personal aspect of the services,” added Mr Rangan.

This new service from BPL Mobile has been developed in association with Speech and Software Technologies (India) Ltd, a Tata enterprise. BPL Mobile has already introduced mi services including miNews, miMessaging and miDate.
