Torrent, Ranbaxy front-runners in race for Kopran’s Aten brand
  TORRENT Pharmaceuticals and Ranbaxy Laboratories are believed to be the front-runners for a strategic deal revolving around the Mumbai-based Kopran’s Aten brand (an anti-anginal) and/or its entire formulations business.

  RECKITT Benckiser, the Indian arm of $5-billion Reckitt Benckiser Plc, has launched two new versions of its 24-year old brand Dispirin for various therapeutic uses in a bid to extend the reach of its Dispirin brand.
Roche offers $20 billion for Bayer drugs unit
  SWISS healthcare giant Roche Holding AG has approached German rival Bayer AG with a preliminary proposal to buy its drugs business for around $20 billion, people familiar with the situation said.
Bulk drug manufacturers oppose differential duty
  INDIAN bulk drug manufacturers have expressed their dissatisfaction to the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) on its demand for the payment of differential duty on account of DPCO 1987 (which is redundant) and notification 6/94 and 7/94 dated March 1, 1994 for the period of 33 days from 6/1/1995 to 9/2/95.
