Yahoo! India in alliance with Bazee.com

Priya Srinivasan in Mumbai

AUCTION site Baazee.com has entered into an alliance with the horizontal portal Yahoo! India. This alliance will enable users of Yahoo! India to participate in online auctions on Baazee. Speaking to eFE, Bazee CMO Gautam Thakar said that the auction site was also in talks with Rediff.com for an alliance to provide the Baazee auction facilities to Rediff users. Baazee already has an arrangement with Indya.com and Sify to provide auction facilities for their users.

Baazee, which already charges its B2C segment, plans to start charging its C2C base in the next four months or so. “We are getting the backend in place, we have a payment gateway, but we want to introduce other features like debit card payment or payments through an escrow mechanism before we actually start charging the C2C segment,” said Mr Thakar. He added that Baazee was talking to a couple of players who could function as third party service providers in the payment arena. Mr Thakar said the commission could range between 1.5 per cent and 13 per cent depending on the nature of the product being sold.
