UTI
chairman inaugrates central processing unit in Navi Mumbai
Our Markets Bureau
Mumbai, Aug 21: THE Unit Trust of India (UTI) has inaugurated
the central processing centre (CPC) at Belapur in Navi Mumbai.
UTI chairman M Damodaran inaugurated the centre. UTI has also
initiated business process re-engineering and the development
of generic software which is now in the advance stages of
completion.
The CPC aims to give any time anywhere service to unit holders.
All schemes are in the process of migration to a single platform
to facilitate sales, repurchase and after sales service transactions
for UTI’s customers across the country from CPC. The CPC will
not only improve but also help standardise service levels.
Most importantly, it will shift the focus of UTI’s branches
from back-office processing to providing value-added services
to customers. The new software platform will interface with
workflow and imaging solutions, to ensure tight control on
process productivity and a paperless processing environment.
CPC is likely to be operational by July 2001. The service
to investors as well as agents will become faster simpler
and more efficient. The full connectivity across all the offices
of UTI and CPC will facilitate “any time anywhere service”
under all schemes wherein an investor can get after sales
service from any of the branches of UTI.
With the CPC going live, the time for launching new and innivative
products will also be reduced.
