Number of foreign tourists likely to remain stagnate
THE number of international tourists visiting India is likely to remain more or less the same with the average room rates (ARRs) achieved by the four and five star hotels in Mumbai and Delhi outperforming the Asian average of ARRs during 2000. ARRs, during 2000, were high despite the erosion of the rupee against the US dollar.

COFFEE outlet pioneers in India, Qwiky Corporation, is expecting a turnover of Rs 90 crore by opening 55 coffee pubs, 35 “store in stores” and 100 kiosks all over the country by 2003 and will soon go in for equity placements.

THE Center for Monitoring the Indian Economy (CMIE), in its review of the performance of the manufacturing sector during 1993-94 to 1999-2000 says, after three years of slowdown, growth rates of companies have improved in 1999-2000.

Vietnam Airlines plans to lease two airliners
NATIONAL flag carrier Vietnam Airlines is seeking to dry lease one more Airbus and a Boeing later this year to meet growing passenger demand, an airline official said on Tuesday. Director of Corporate Affairs Phan Duy Quang said the airline had called for leasing offers with terms of 36 months.
