INDIA’s crude oil import bill for 2001-02 is likely to be around Rs 80,000 crore, not much different from the previous year.

Benzene prices go down by 15 per cent
BENZENE prices have gone down by around 15 per cent in the domestic market in the wake of the continuous slide in crude oil prices in the last few months.

Southern tea plantations show negative growth
SOUTH Indian tea plantations have started to show negative growth in productivity due to ageing plantations and there is now an urgent need to undertake their rejuvenation, pruning and replantation.
“Productivity improvements through short term measures have reached saturation levels and growth rate in yields have declined to (-)0.01 per cent from 2.75 per cent a decade ago,” the United Planters Association of South India (Upasi) sources said.

Foodgrains at special rates for drought-hit states
