New Delhi, March 18: The Rajasthan government is setting up a 100mw wind-power plant in the state with an investment of Rs 500 crore over the next three years funded by the private sector.``The state will meet 10 per cent of its electricity requirement from renewable energy sources,'' Rajasthan Energy Minister Dr Chandrabhan said, elaborating on the project work. While laying down the foundation stone of the 25kw grid interactive, SPV power plant in Jaipur, he said: ``The state has great potential for both solar and wind energy. Rajasthan is the only state where sun shines for more than 300 days a year - a potential aspect which can be utilised for electricity generation.'' The 25kw power plant in Jaipur will start its operation in the next four months, he added.
Dr Chandrabhan also informed that a 5kw grid interactive solar photovoltaic SPV power plant, commissioned at the Rajasthan Energy Development Agency (REDA), is successfully operating from January this year. He also said that the work on integrated Mathania solar power project will start soon.
Stating that Rajasthan has the distinction of establishing three demonstration wind-power projects in north India, he said the third wind-power project has started producing energy from early this month.
