Indore, March 18: The Soyabean Processors Association of India (Sopa) will set up Sopa clinics in all the tehsils of soyabean growing districts of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra to disseminate the latest information to farmers and help them in improving their productivity and lowering the cost of production."Sopa has created a website exclusively in Hindi language, through which it endeavours to provide all the information with regards to soya cultivation, production, treatment and marketing." Sopa chairman OP Goyal said at the `International Soya Conference-2001 (ISF-2001)' here.
Sopa shall provide a cash subsidy to purchase a multi-media equipped computer system with modem and power pack to the coordinator of the Sopa clinic, he said, adding, a computer link up with the Sopa site will be available for six hours a day to enable farmers to interact and chat with SOPA experts. The adoption of latest techniques would help soya farmers in lowering cost of production and would get a better price due to additional demand from within India, Mr Goyal said. He also advocated having an open mind, on the issue of genetically modified oilseeds.
