Yet another new collection has hit the stores. But Dabiri, which means golden thread in Arabic, stands in a different light because of the kind of work that has gone into the collection. The collection comes as the result of an association between two designers Vandana Malhotra and Divya Bindra. But what sets the collection apart? Explains Ms Bindra: "The essence of the creation lies in presenting cuts and styles, which enhance the wearer's countenance and create an inner feel-good feeling."
While Ms Malhotra studied fashion designing in Nassau College, New York, and has some experience in designing, Ms Bindra studied management in Delhi and comes with a new freshness. The result is this vivid collection.
The collection has only saris and salwar kameezs. Romance, a part of the collection, is a dreamy one: French laces transferred into a silhouette of the traditional sari, and co-ordinated with sequins blouses. The Orchidea Symphony offers floral patterns and embroidery, which complement each other perfectly. With modern floral and embroidery patterns crafted on French chiffon, the symphony features sequins, Swarovsky and crystal beads.
The Chikan Rhapsody brings forward the finest tradition of chikankari embroidery from Lucknow. The delicate embroidery gets a different look with the introduction of coloured silk thread on the fabric. A move from the usual pastels to brighter hues gives it a different look. Inspired by the freshness of spring, The Fleur Ecstacy comprises floral motifs, done up with Swarovsky crystals to give it a different look.
Decorous Dreams is the formal daywear collection of georgettes and chiffons embroidered with single cotton and silk threads, offering an elegant medley of pastels. Priced from Rs 9,000 onwards, the collection come in earthy tones to bright reds and greens.
