Digikore appointed distributor for three South Korean studios

Pune: Digikore Studios, Pune's first cartoon animation facility, has bagged a contract from three South Korean animation studios for distributing their products in India and other Asian countries. Digikore will be distributing five animation series from Animagic Studio Inc, AKOM Production Co and Hanho Heung Up Co Ltd, which are among the biggest studios in South Korea. The animation cartoon series includes Flying Superboard, Maroons, Alex and Alexis and Toad Patrol. "Once these series go on air we also plan to get into merchandising some of their other products based on the cartoon series, Abhishek More, director," Digikore Studios said. This deal has set the distribution division rolling and now we hope to do some production work for these studios, he said. Digikore is in advanced stage of talks with various other studios in South Korea for doing production work from their Pune facility. Apart from producing their own series these South Korean studios have been doing work for major American and European studios like Warner Brothers, Disney, Universal Studios, Dreamworks and Fox. Among the series they have worked on are Batman, Casper, Dilbert, Flash Gordon, Winnie The Pooh and GI Joe. The animation for the feature film "King & I " was done at Hanho Heung Up. In the initial phase Digikore is expecting ink and paint and compositing work from these studios months for whichtrials are on. In view of the business potential in the market Digikore is also planning to set up an office in South Korea soon. It already has a marketing office in Singapore.
