KVVV Charya
Hyderabad, March 12 : The Apollo Hospital group plans to enter third party administration (TPA) business in overseas markets. Dr Pratap C Reddy, the chairman of the group said, "International players in third party administration have approached us, but we are yet to decide on the issue." A Singapore-based multinational has proposed to participate in the equity of the company proposed to set up separately for the purpose, he added. Apollo has already applied to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (Irda) for license to operate as third party administrator. "We have already networked with 900 hospitals and 3,000 doctors across the country", Dr Reddy said.Though initially, the group has plans to enter health insurance, considering that health insurance is not a separate entity, but has been clubbed with either life or non-life. This has altered Apollo's plans about the insurance entry, Reddy explained. Explaining that his group's aim is to provide "care, comfort and cure" to the needy in the country, Dr Reddy said time and again, the Apollo stable is coming out with various schemes to suite the requirements of the society. Recently, Apollo launched "Aashirwad" scheme to the elders of the family whose children stay away, either in abroad or in other cities. The elders, covered under the scheme, will be provided a host of health services including master health checks, weekly telephone enquiries about the health condition, mediclaim cover of Rs 3,00,000, door-delivery of drugs, and a host of discounts in the eventuality of using the service.
