SNS to target ASP businessin India

Bangalore : Singapore Networks Services Pvt Ltd (SNS), a leading application service provider, hopes to have a long term business relation with India on a range applications and services in B2G (business to government) and G2G (government to government) sectors. Speaking to The Financial Express on the eve of the inauguration of SNS's first software development facility outside Singapore, SNS CEO V Mathivanan said SNS could leverage its ASP expertise with intellectual capability of Indian IT sector. "Our immediate priority is to stablise the development centre to be inaugurated here on Tuesday", he said. But "we will be looking at health care, judicial services and trade for strategic tie-ups and partnerships in the future," he added. The SNS development center with an investment of S$ 5 million (Rs 1.33 crore) will be one of the main sourcing centre for all business application of software of the parent company in Singapore."We hope to source nearly 50 per cent of our requirement from the Bangalore centre. The centre will house nearly 40 programmers by June 2001 and aims to expand to more than 100 by 2002", Mr Mathivanan said. According to Mr Mathivanan, the software facility in Bangalore is part the globalisation initiative launched by SNS. "It allows us to transfer technology and capabilities from Singapore to other parts of the region. To achieve this, the lab will be an important training hub for our programmers and they will be equipped with skills in the latest Java technology to develop value-added and customer focused solutions for B2B and B2G markets", he added.
