H-P to unveil Pentium III 1 GHz chip PC

New Delhi : Hewlett-Packard India is launching a new home personal computer under its Pavilion range powered with Intel Pentium III 1 GHz processor. The new PC will be available in three versions with an option of CD-ROM, DVD and CD Writer. The new product is the fastest PC in the Pavilion range offered by HP targetted at the home segment. The PC is priced at Rs 61,000 for CD-ROM version, Rs 65,000 for DVD version and Rs 69,000 for CD-Writer version. The PC will be available in the Indian market in next two weeks.

While talking to The Financial Express in an exclusive interview, market development manager of HP India, Mr Kaushik Bellani said that HP has chosen to launch pentium III 1 GHz PC to give value for money model to the high end home PC users who would like to record their own CDS, watch movies and enjoy broadband content. "The new models are Broadband Internet ready allowing users to leverage boradband technology such as DSL or Cable," said Mr Bellani adding that new PCs are also equipped withlatest Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports with plug and play convenience. Mr Bellani claimed that it would be the first branded PC available in the Indian market with Pentium III 1 GHz processor.

HP is also expanding its reatil chain with 120 additional outlets to sell its HP Pavilion Home PC range. The company currentlly has around 180 retail outlets across the country spread into 70 citites and towns. "We are adding more outlets to have more depth in our distribution channel. The new outlets are being opened into new locations of existing cities to come closer to the customer," said Mr Bellani.
