While the number of working women has increased in this country, they have little variety in formal wear, especially western wear, to choose from. So, Meena Phophale conceptualised a wardrobe based on this need. And Barcode was born.``The idea of Barcode was partly based on my won experience. There were practically no options for a working women especially if one wanted a wardrobe comprising western wear.'' Barcode offers a wide range of designs for working women ranging from formal, semi-formal to evening wear. The Barcode ensembles are made from easy care fabrics like soft crepes, poly-suedes, light weight georgettes, peach finished polyesters, lycra stretch satin, microcord, cotton jacquards and stretch chiffons.Barcode clothes begin at a price as low as Rs 180 and go upto Rs 1,500.
Barcode is being positioned to address a specific niche: an international western wear line for Indian women. The idea is to provide an Indianised option based on international trends and styles. Though the focus is on international wear, the clothes are designed keeping the Indian body frame in mind.
Barcode has its signature outlets in Colaba, Bandra and Kemps Corner, Mumbai. The label is also available at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Indore, Chennai, Nasik, Ahmedabad, Goa.
