ICAI committee on WTO policy research, education

New Delhi, Feb 27: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)has set up a committee of experts on trade laws and WTO to create a hub ofpolicy research and dissemination of knowledge on WTO-related matters.The committee is aimed at increasing the awareness amongst the domesticindustry, business, agriculture, service and other sectors on the impact oftrade laws arising out of WTO agreement and other treaties as a member ofthe WTO, ICAI president ND Gupta said. The committee proposes to inviteimportant personalities like WTO director of international trade,representatives from the ministry of external affairs and industry chambersto be members of the committee, Mr Gupta said. The panel is headed by ICAI'snominee council-member Mr Sunil Bhargava, an expert on protective tradelaws, safeguards and rules of origin, according to Mr. Gupta.
