Mumbai, Feb 27: Indusind Information Technology Ltd (IITL), IBM India andMidas-Kapiti International (MKI) on Tuesday announced the launch of anapplication service provider (ASP) initiative for co-operative banks andother small banks in the country. While the pre-marketing of ASP serviceshas been in progress for sometime now, the formal memorandum ofunderstanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday.Under this partnership, banks will be able to take advantage of MKI'sinternationally popular `Equation' universal banking system (which runs onthe IBM server `iSeries' platform) on a shared basis. The ASP service willalso include value-added application and services that are built around the`IBM/Lotus Domino' software suite and will enable banks to utilisecurrent-generation messaging and workflow facilities as part of dailyoperations.
Said IBM India's vice president, sales and regional director, SwarupChoudhury: "IBM brings its global IT expertise to the banking industry inIndia through the ASP model. This alliance is an extension to IBM'scommitment towards delivering quality services. The `iSeries' platform, isideally suited for shared application services. Said IITL's president & CEO,PV Jaishankar: "IITL's clearly defined focus and priority is in theconceptualisation, provision and support of shared or hosted solutions basedon the ASP model for banking."
