Bangalore : With revenues set to shoot past Rs 20 crore this fiscal, Bangalore-based Compudyne Winfosystems is all set to spread its wings to tap overseas markets like Europe and Australia. The company, which is focused on Web-based consultancy and multimedia solutions, entered Japan in 1998 and the US in 1999. It is now looking at fresh pastures to accelerate growth, according to its chairman and managing director, Mr SS Dahiya.He said Compudyne would set up its Europe office in either Luxembourg, Brittany (France) or in Germany by April 1 when operations would be formally kicked off. The Australia offensive is slated for next year.
With a large chunk (40 per cent) coming from multimedia, Compudyne, which recently acquired a US-based design shop Vision Art for $4 million, is looking to expand its operations in this space big time.
At present, the US team which front-ends the multimedia division comprises 35 people. The division is headed by Mr Mark Kolbe, who has to his credit special effects in most of the biggest blockbusters from Hollywood including Independence Day. Compudyne's India back-end studio in Bangalore will grow to 100 people over the next one year to work on the latest in multimedia and animation software like 3-D modelling and VRML (virtual reality modelling language).
The company notched over Rs 17 crore for the nine months ended December 2000 compared with Rs 6.43 crore for 1999-2000.
...to raise Rs 12-15 crCompudyne Winfosystems is looking at raising Rs 12 to 15 crore for its expansion plans of which Rs 6 crore has been earmarked for the USA. Mr Dahiya said he would look at either the rights or private placement route or go for debt funding. The company is also eyeing potential acquisitions overseas that could offer technology, marketing network and skilled manpower, he said.
