Forgot your wedding anniversary? Well, you aren't the only man in the world to do so, I'm sure, but your guilt won't be any the easier to bear for knowing that. Help is at hand, however. In the form of First Flight Couriers Ltd and Naranja of Mumbai. Both companies offer a personalised mail service, wherein they will remember the important dates in your life, remind you of them, offer you a range of gifts, and deliver the gift to the love of your life. Of course, this could also be the corporate contact of your life. Talk of capitalising on the guilt factor.
Naranja was the first to think up the service in Mumbai. In fact, till date, it remains the metro's only 24-hour, Dial-a-Bouquet service. The flowers are grown in the company's farms and delivered dew-fresh, in intricate bouquets, wherever you wish them to go, from Mumbai to Manhattan.
Naranja also provides decorative vases, pots, cards, ribbons and designer sleeves for you to send your flowers in. The company's USP is that its team of designers hail from the legendary flower town of Mindapur.
Naranja MD Rehan Yar Khan says, "We have computerised our entire network so that orders can be processed efficiently. We ensure payment collection at the sender's doorstep and also accept credit cards. We have our own fleet of environment controlled trucks. We have also entered into international tie-ups to further enhance the quality of our service."
Naranja allows you the option of sending half a kilo of exotic chocolates with your bouquet. Bouquets range in price from Rs 350 for carnations, gerbera, roses and chrysanthemums to Rs 750 for iris, calla lilies, gladioli, asiatium lilium, alstromeria, oriental lilium and greens.
And for corporates with selective amnesia, Naranja's Power Flower Program could be just the answer. A company just has to send it its mailing list, with the relevant dates and occasions. The company will make automatic despatches to the persons on the list. For mailing lists of 500 or more, Naranja will even design an exclusive package bearing the company's logo, to give the bouquets a special corporate look.First Flight Couriers calls its personalised mail service `Emotional Bond'.
The company offers its clients a list of occasions from Pongal to Valentine's Day to Forgiveness Day and Boss' Day, which falls on October 16, in case you were wondering!
First Flight Couriers has also devised cost-effective packages of one, three, six and 12 felicitations. A bouquet with a card for one felicitation will cost you Rs 299, 12 felicitations, Rs 2,699. A cake with a card will cost Rs 399 for one felicitation and Rs 3,299 for 12 felicitations. A bouquet with a cake and card costs Rs 499 for one felicitation and Rs 4,999 for 12 felicitations. The cake is usually one of half a kilo and is available in a range of flavours such as chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and pineapple.
Once the gift has been sent, the company will intimate the sender so that he is not caught off guard when the recipient calls to thank him. "Emotional Bond will serve as a genuine act of love and thoughtfulness," says R K Saboo, deputy managing director of First Flight Couriers Ltd.
Mr Saboo says the Emotional Bond service, which was launched just a fortnight ago, covers 72 cities in the country. But bookings are accepted only at five locations, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore. Since the service is still very new, delivery takes seven days. "But we will narrow down the time period soon," promises Mr Saboo.
