IRIS to invest in Hong Kong's Riskhints
The Investment Research and Information Services Ltd (IRIS) is to make a strategic investment in Hong Kong's financial software company Riskhints Ltd, for development of risk management products and expand business overseas. ``We are in the process of finalising the investments and the deal shortly,''Iris chief executive officer, Mr S Swaminathan, told reporters on Tuesday. The alliance involves technology development and marketing for Indian and overseas clients, Riskhints Ltd President Pratap Sondhi said.Odyssey to offer security infrastructure to Temasek
The Chennai-based software company Odyssey Technologies in association with Netkoffer Security Infrastructure to provide software and support on public key Infrastructure (PKI) to Temasek Polytechnic at Singapore. A MoU to this effect was signed by the representatives of the three companies at Singapore on February 22, a company press release said in Chennai on Tuesday.
Precision Interconnect sets up Indian subsidiary
The US-based Precision Interconnect, a part of the Tyco International has announced its Indian subsidiary. The company would initially invest $1 million in the country to set up a high-tech cable interconnect assembly plant in Bangalore. As a main outsourcing facility, the Indian operation would be a leading supplier of interconnect cable assemblies to its medical equipment customers across the globe. The plant would also cater to the demands of the Indian OEMs across the country.

VSNL completes SAFE optic fibre project in Kochi
Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) has completed its South Africa Far East (SAFE) optic fibre cable landing operations here. The project, a joint venture of 42 companies including VSNL from 35 countries, has only Kochi as the landing point in the sub-continent for its submarine cable system. The $600-million project, for which India has contributed $50 million, has 12 landing points along its 28,000-km route from Cape Town to Penang in Malaysia.
Reasons for delay in DTH
A combination of four factors, it seems, has worked together to delay the government plans of issuing guidelines on the Direct-to-Home (DTH) TV service. Broadly speaking, the four reasons behind the delay in issuing DTH guidelines include the top-level changes in the I&B Ministry, time spent on the FTV controversy, law ministry seeking clarification on some issues, and the government wanting to discuss the guidelines with key broadcasters of the country.
