Verette to invest$5 million more in Indian operations

Mumbai : The California-based, Technecall Inc, now known as Verette after abrand identity change earlier this month, is planning to begin operations atits facility in Mumbai by mid-March. The facility, which will providemulti-channel help desk facilities to global clients, will be manned by atotal staff of 750. Verette, which has already invested $3 million in itsIndian operations, is planning to invest another $5 million in 2001. "Weexpect a 30 per cent increase every year thereafter", says Mr Jai DharGupta, CEO, Verette, in an e-mail interview with eFE.Mr Gupta adds that plans are currently underway to start a seconddevelopment centre which will be patterned along the lines of the first onein Mumbai. "The location has yet to be determined and will depend on factorssuch as availability of labour as well as viability of infrastructure andaccessibility to air travel", he explains. Verette to invest $5 million more in Indian operations On the nature ofdevelopment work that these centres are likely to undertake, Mr Guptaexplains, "Verette Inc is establishing itself as the premier provider ofoutsourced, multichannel, technical and helpdesk support services. Toprovide these, programs are designed and built by Verette to address clientspecific business requirements. Program performance is managed on aday-to-day basis by a US-based performance manager." Mr Gupta did not disclose the names of Verette's clients and also the namesof global clients who will be services out of their India facilities butsaid that, "Our clients include a number of US based companies who seedistinct advantages in outsourcing to India - the technical education ofhuman capital, the depth of skilled resources and a significant reduction incost versus domestic (US) operations.
