Mumbai : Datamatics Technologies Limited has set up a dedicated knowledge-based facility for content and software relating to the publishing industry at MIDC in Mumbai. The company has invested around Rs 10 crore for this centre. Datamatics Technologies has also tied up with US-based Cadmus, which is one of the largest players in the scientific and technical publishing domain for content and publishing software. Dr Lalit S Kanodia, chairman, Datamatics said that half of the facility will be dedicated to the projects arising out of this tie-up. Besides this, the facility will also concentrate on Web content, SGML tagging, WAP among others.Dr Kanodia says "this is an exclusive global tie-up and it includes a dedicated satellite link from here to Cadmus and the company will have access to a facility with state of the art technology, highly qualified staff and competitive pricing that is being provided by Datamatics" he adds. Datamatics on the other hand will be able to service the vast customer base of Cadmus. With this they will have access to niche markets like the publishing industry.
Future plans of the company include development major facilities at Millennium Business Park at Mahape in Navi Mumbai which will be completed by the end of March.
The company will invest a total of about Rs 50 crore in the venture. The investment or this is raised internally and some of it through the deferred payment facility provided by MIDC through its own bankers. The company's plan for an IPO will depend on their March 2001 results.
