The product, developed by the staff in Kochi, is being introduced in Kerala on a trial basis and will later be introduced in other parts of the country. BPL Mobile officials claim that this is a product that can in a sense be termed as first in the world. Head of the business operations in Kerala Mr Mohammed Salim said that the product would be of great benefit to high usage subscribers like roaming customers and top businessmen and executives. The facility offers two mobile numbers on the same phone and on the same card. There can be a regular number for normal use. The other select number can be given to selected people.

There would be several occasions when the subscriber would not like to be disturbed by the not-so-important calls but would certainly not like to keep their phones switched off, Mr Salim said. Taking into consideration this requirement of the customer, BPL Mobile has developed this product whereby the customer can switch to the select number mode. During this time, calls coming on to the regular number will go to the voice mail.

A subscriber opting for the new product would have to choose the MobileSelect plan with a monthly access fee of Rs 1,550. The subscriber would have to pay an additional of Rs 1,000 as a one-time payment.BPL Mobile officials said that the product was being introduced in Kerala as it was developed here. It would later be introduced in other parts of the country.
