Mumbai : The idea behind the Intel e-business Forum is to take the mystery out of e-business and break it down and crystalise it to something we can relate to" said Mr Avtar Saini, Director South Asia Intel Corporation, explaining the purpose of the Intel E-Business forum held in Mumbai on Tuesday .Mr John Miner, vice president and general manager of communications products group Intel Corporation urged business leaders to increase their e-business implementation and outlined key imperatives to accelerate Internet growth and the e-business momentum in India.
These imperatives include the need for further investment in telecommunications and information technologies infrastructure, adoption of a modular Internet architecture and the continual reforms and deregulation in power and telecommunications sectors. Cost management and operation efficiency will, he added, signify business success in the new Internet-driven economy. Mr Miner added that a "a foundation of horizontal, open and standards-based solutions will enable companies to deploy e-business solutions more rapidly and easily and will also offer economies of scale".
The other participants in this session were Mr Nandan Nilekani, President & chief officer of Infosys Technologies Ltd who spoke on partnering for successful e-business, Mr Balu Doraisamy, managing director of Compaq Computer (India) Pvt Ltd addressed the issues on Infrastructure for e-business and Mr V R Srivatsan, Regional Director of e-business marketing at Oracle Corporations touched on Path to a successful e-business-the experience and learnings.
Mr Nilekani said that to tap the opportunities in the global networked economy Indian business need new collaborative processes, a robust infrastructure and world class software solutions. The advantages that India had was that it has the best of breed solutions, end-to-end capabilities, partnership with global technology majors and a wide experience in managing leading edge projects across the world.
