Geeta Nair
Pune, Nov 13: Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) Ltd's Pune operations would be tapping potential in the irrigation and public health sectors. The company is also eyeing software complex projects and in the process of inking a major deal in this area.

The Pune operations of TCE, which comes under the infrastructure group, has just completed five years of operations. Formerly the company was known as Tata Consulting Engineers when it was a wholly owned division of Tata Sons Ltd. The company was corporatised as TCE Engineers Ltd owned by Tata Sons during March 2000. TCE had a turnover of Rs 70 crore for year ended March 2000. According to TCE engineering manager, Uday K Hingne the government used to handle the irrigation and public health projects on its own but this is increasingly being outsourced to private consultants.

"There is a huge potential for us and we are keen on doing more work in these areas," says Mr Hingne. TCE has built credibility in these areas with rich experience in executing major projects of Tata Electric in this region. The company has started working for the Pune Municipal Corpn's public health projects.
