HRD Task Force sees Rs 2800 cr investment in IT education
The Task Force on Human Resource Development in IT has projected an expenditure of Rs 2800 crore over the next seven years to build infrastructure for IT training to meet the growing demand fo IT professionals. This includes capacity creation and upgradation at various levels including IITs, RECs, other engineering colleges and technical institutions. As per the projections of the ministry of IT and the Nasscom, the manpower requirement in the IT software and IT enabled services will be over 22 lakh by the year 2008.

ICWAI to organise seminars on online trading
The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India will organise a series of seminars across the country to educate professionals in `on-line trading' in financial markets. The seminars being organised in collaboration with the Mumbai-based public sector Stock Holding Corporation of India will be attended by professionals and experts, according to a company release. The series of professional meetings will educate the people on the implications of online financial trading and the pivotal role the professional cost management executives could play in the strategic area. The first seminar is being held in New Delhi on August 29, 2000 which will be followed by seminars in Chandigarh, Lucknow, Dehradun and Agra.

PTC receives $2.2 m order for engineering solutions
PTC a provider of collaboration product commerce (CPC) solutions has announced that it has received a $2.2 million order for Pro/engineer and other i-series software products from Tyco International Ltd. Tyco International is a diversified manufacturing and service company. The software was shipped to Tyco during PTC's third fiscal quarter (ended July 1, 2000). "We plan to leverage PTC's unique behavioural modelling capabilities, combined with advanced assembly extension design animation, and advanced surfacing to reduce costs and decrease the time it takes us to design and test our products," said Georgina Burt, Vice President -Global Procurement for Tyco International (US) Inc.
