BHEL bags Zambianorder for 330 KVpower substation

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
New Delhi, Aug 13: Bhel Ltd will execute Rs 68-crore contract to construct a 330 KV power substation in Zambia being funded by the World Bank.

The agreement for the contract, bagged in stiff international competition, was signed between BHEL and Zambian Electricity Supply Corporation in Lusaka recently, a BHEL statement said here on Sunday.

Major equipment supplies for the project include 330 kv class power transformers, SF6 circuit breakers, isolators, instrument transformers, microprocessor based controls, power capacitors and allied substation equipment.

This is the sixth major consecutive export order in the last one year that firmly established BHEL in the power generation and transmission sector in the international market.

The renewed focus on overseas business by BHEL is yielding remarkable results with the company achieving a record physical order booking of Rs 703 crore in last Financial year, a seven fold increase in last two years, the company release said.
