Pune: ITNation.com, a B2B portal for IT products and services, expects to break even by July 2001 by turning in a profit of $1 million. Pawan Sood, MD, ITNation.com said that in the next 90 days the company will roll out all its services and cover around 80 per cent of the market. The company is all set to kick off its advertising campaign next week to consolidate its space in the IT products and services marketplace.To expedite the roll out Sood is seeking alliances with players in the technical training and exhibition business among others. It is already talking to Expo Point for a possible tie-up. Sood says the company would be looking closely at synergistic businesses in the Chrysalis Capital portfolio.Chrysalis Capital along with the Carlyle Group has pumped in $4 million in TNation.com, promoted by Sood and Rizwan Thakur. The company had received seed funding from Edelwesis. ITNation.com serves as a neutral online market place with the site having 6500 registered trade members and the top 1000 corporates.
As of now advertising is the main source of revenue but around 65 per cent of the revenues is expected to come from transactions and 25 per cent from services. The recent tie up with Ariba, the leading global e-commerce platform provider, will enable ITNation to power its online exchange which would include auctions, reverse auctions, catalog capabilities, request for quotes and vendor managed inventory.
This is the third year of operations for the company. In addition to the net presence, ITNation.com is creating an offline infrastructure, which is building the member base. The Mumbai-headquartered ITNation.com has seven offices in the country and is all set to open its eighth office in Ahmedabad.
