WSNL to renew account under special monsoon rates till Aug 14

Neerja Kumar
New Delhi: Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) has decided to extend the facility of pre-mature renewal of accounts under the special monsson rates till August 14, for all customers who had accounts in VSNL prior to the launch of the monsoon package.

According to VSNL officials, subscribers who had purchased VSNL Internet accounts prior to June 1 and wish to renew their accounts pre-maturely, can do so during the next fortnight. The renewals can also be done through the Internet at http://online.vsnl.com, through credit cards.

According to VSNL officials, this extension has been given in response to the overwhelming response to the monsoon special offer of VSNL, which closed on July 31. As a part of the package, all the customers who have either renewed their accounts during these two months or taken fresh accounts have the benefit of free night usage during 11.00 pm to 8.am for three years.According to unconfirmed reports, VSNL has garnered at least 80,000 new subscribers and 1 lakh renewals during the monsoon package, thereby taking up its total number of subscribers to 4.8 lakh.

Meanwhile, the officials refused to comment on whether the company plans to bring out similar package or reduce charges, which doubled at the end of the monsoon package in face of increasing competition. According to officials, if the company can generate revenues from some other sources, it will considering lowering charges.
