MS Explorer captures 86% of browser market
The browser war has turned into a massacre, with Microsoft's Internet Explorer capturing more than 86 per cent of the market worldwide, a research firm said on Monday. The survey by WebSideStory's StatMarket service found Explorer was used by 86.08 of Internet users worldwide, an all-time high, as of June 18. The percentage of Internet users employing Netscape Navigator has fallen to just 13.9 per cent, the survey found. The survey collected data from some 50 million Websites. Internet Explorer usage has climbed in the past 18 months, from 65 per cent in February 1999, while Netscape usage has tumbled from 33 per cent at that time.

Mid-Day introduces Chalomumbai.com
Mid-Day, a leading daily has launched a Mumbai portal site called Chalomumbai.com. The site has been created through a merger with another city-specific portal called Mumbaikar.com which was acquired earlier this year by the company from Activ8 Technologies. Chalomumbai is being hosted by MTNL.

Nasscom initiative on India-Italy IT ties
Nasscom has launched a fresh initiative to increase co-operation between India and Italy in the field of IT software and services. A special project INIT (Indo-Italian IT Co-operation) to increase IT co-operation between India and Italy was launched by Nasscom president Dewang Mehta on Monday. The project was launched during Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's visit to Italy.

Stockexchangegame, Kotak Securities tie-up
Stockexchangegame.com, a virtual game on the stock markets incorporating real time quotes on the BSE and NSE has tied up with Kotak Securities which plans to launch its Internet trading facility shortly. Kotak Securities plans to incroporate the game on its Internet trading site.
