Bangalore: The US-based AremisSoft Corporation has established a development lab at the International Technology Park in Bangalore. The company, which began its India operations seven years ago at Noida, will also be shifting its Indian head quarters to the city. AremisSoft India managing director MC Matthews said that the company had chalked out an investment plan of $2 million for the Bangalore facility, of which approximately $1 million had already been used. The lab will focus on Internet technologies like Internet telephony, Web-enabled enterprise application software and solutions for the mid-sized vertical segments like manufacturing, healthcare, construction and hospitality, Matthews said. "The key markets for our products has been the UK.With the Bangalore center we are looking at focussing on India more aggressively," he said. While this Bangalore lab will initially function as a support and development center for a large $37.5 million project the company is putting together for the government of Bulgaria, AremisSoft is looking at setting up another center within the city, for product development. The company is looking at a manpower base of 400 across the two Bangalore centers by the year end. As for revenues, AremisSoft reported global revenues of $73 million last fiscal, while India specific revenues stood at $1.7 million. The company is looking at doubling the Indian revenues in the ongoing fiscal. Copyright © 2000 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
