Speaking to The Financial Express, CWCL managing director NAdhikesavalu Reddy said that the Mumbai and Calcutta projects would commencein six months as the land had been identified.

The projects would be completed 8-12 months after initiation.

In Chennai too, the company is in the process of land acquisition.

The Gurgaon project, the first of its kind, is going to be operationa in 15days, he said. But the activation was partial as the container freightstation would take another five months to complete. This project wasundertaken in strategic alliance with Concor. It cost Rs 32 crore and wasfunded largely by IDBI. The Calcutta and Mumbai projects are expected tocost 20 to 30 per cent lesser than the Gurgaon project, the company havingcompleted the learning process.

``Future demand depends on the successful implementation of the Gurgaonproject,'' said Reddy. But there is considerable demand for its servicesfrom exporters, importers, cement industries and others. The company whichis part of the NDR group (having a turnover of Rs 100 crore) had a turnoverof Rs 9 crore last year.

``The future would see us integrating our metro-city operations after theabove projects are completed,'' Reddy said, wishing that bureaucratichurdles in obtaining land clearances were lesser in number.
