Pune, Oct 27: Alfa Laval (India) Ltd has recorded a 136 per cent jump in its net profit for the nine months ended September 30, 1999, to Rs 14.18 crore from Rs 6 crore (audited) for the corresponding period last year.Net sales and income from operations is up from Rs 132.34 crore to Rs 140 crore this year. While interest costs have come down by from Rs 1.11 crore last year to Rs 89.68 lakh this year, other income has gone up from Rs 6.26 crore to Rs 7.11 crore taking gross profit up from Rs 16.33 crore to Rs 22.53 crore.
Despite expenditure of Rs 2.09 crore on the VRS programme this year and higher provisioning for taxation from Rs 1.10 crore last year to Rs 2.52 crore this year, Alfa Laval has been able to register higher profits. Profits would have been higher but the results include the losses incurred by Tetra Pak Processing Systems Division to the tune of Rs 1.88 crore.
