RITES bags first overseas BOT project

RITES Ltd, a public sector enterprise under the ministry of railways, has bagged its first overseas build-operate-transfer (BOT) project. RITES, in association with Nascom of Bangladesh, signed a BOT agreement with Bangladesh Railways for conversion of conventional coaches to air-conditioned type. This is the first overseas BOT contract for RITES as well as for the Bangladesh Railways. The converted coaches would be operated in Suborna Express of Dhaka-Chittagong and Parabat Express of Dhaka-Syhlet route. According to a press release on Thursday, the earnings from these air-conditioned coaches would be shared between Bangladesh Railways, RITES and Nascom for four years following which the coaches would be transferred to Bangladesh Railways.

Bhel to make super-critical power plant equipment

Bhel would equip itself to manufacture super-critical coal fired power plant equipment that meet strict environment norms, company CMD KG Ramachandran said. "We have recently entered into a technical collaboration agreement with Babcock-Borsig, who are world leaders in supercritical technology and also have extensive experience in this area," Ramachandran said addressing a seminar on `Supercritical Coal Fired Boilers.'

Rs 5.5-cr IOC order for Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels

Public sector Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels Limited (BHPV) has secured a Rs 5.5 crore order from the Indian Oil Corporataion IOCL) Barauni refinery for supply of two vaccum ejector condenser systems for their vacuum column of distillation units. These vacuum- ejector-condenser systems are desinged as a three-state system and consists of five numbers of condensers, six ejectors, a hot well, a cathc pot, inter-connecting piping, valves and instruments, according to a press release by BHPV in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.

Bhel becomes Y2K compliant

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) has made all its internal systems, services and project supplies Y2K compliant. For the past supplies, Bhel has informed its customers that it is fully prepared to take up any upgradation to make them Y2K compliant on demand, a company release said in New Delhi on Thursday. The scope of the Y2K project covered both internal systems and manufacturing/testing, dispatch, installation and operation activities as well as project supplies made to the customers, it said. The entire work of renovation was carried out in-house and got validated at both divisional and corporate level.
