Gujarat draws up plan for 13,044 mw power by 2002

Baroda, Oct 3: The Gujarat government has chalked out a plan to generate 13,044 mega watt of power at the end of Ninth Plan, Gujarat energy minister Kaushik Patel said here on Sunday.Addressing a seminar on ``electricity tariff for the millennium'', Patel said the state's installed capacity of power generation at the end of 2002 will touch 13,044 mw and in accordance with the programme, 1000 to 1200 mw would be added to the state's power system every year. The state is also planning to introduce two bills on energy audit and electricity reforms and has been consulting with Asian development bank and other agencies.
