Sebi asks BSE chief to go over payments crisis
It was a day of high drama at the Bombay Stock Exchange on Wednesday. Sebi, in a bold move, sought the removal of BSE president JC Parekh for his alleged involvement in the payments crisis that sent tremors at the BSE last year.
Railways plan tailor-made packages for core sector
The Railways is drafting an elaborate package for the core sector which includes a readjustment of freight rates for POL and constitution of a group for reviewing linkages with the coal sector.
Foodgrains output to stray off target
Foodgrains production in 1998-99 is likely to fall short of target by over three million tonnes. According to estimates, the output in the year will be 200.88 million tonnes against the targeted 204 million tonnes.
