Central bank initiates Big Bang reforms
Bimal Jalan has stuck to his decision to review the monetary and credit policy for 1998-99, announced last April. So, there is no busy-season policy per se, no initiative to rev the stock markets or to boost investment.
Governor Bimal Jalan needs to be complimented for excellent work
The Reserve Bank governor on Friday unveiled the half-yearly monetary and credit policy and apparently has lived up to his promise of making it a non-event. Given the market conditions, it is an excellent policy and the governor deserves to be complimented for it.
