Truck rates to stay stable

Freight rates for the nine-tonne truck load vehicles are likely to increase marginally in the week ahead, transporters said.The truck rates have taken a beating in the past week as the cargo movement and availability of vehicles declined on account of diwali.The rates from Mumbai to almost all the northern sector cities witnessed a substantial fall in the last week.

The rates to Jammu and Srinagar fell by Rs 700 and Rs 1,500 to Rs 17,300 and Rs 22,500, respectively.Truck rates to Himachal Pradesh went down by around Rs 1,500. The Mumbai to Delhi rates too decreased by Rs 1,600 to Rs 13,700.The drop in the Mumbai to Delhi rates triggered the decrease in rates to Haryana and Punjab. The rates to these states fell in the range of Rs 500 to Rs 1,400.In the northern sector, the rates to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh declined in the band of Rs 200 to Rs 700. The Mumbai to Lucknow and Varanasi rates dropped by Rs 500 each to Rs 14,500 and Rs 14,300, respectively.

The rates to western region decreased in the range ofRs 200-800. Rates to Surat declined by Rs 800 to Rs 3,200 while rates to Kandla fell by Rs 300 to Rs 6,200.Rates to Indore ( in Madhya Pradesh) decreased by Rs 700 to Rs 5,800.

Truck rates to Jaipur ( in Rajasthan) also decreased by Rs 700 to Rs 10,300.Freight rates to Assam decreased substantially in the last week. The Mumbai to Guwahati rates fell by Rs 1,700 to Rs 35,800 and rates to Dimapur fell by Rs 2,000 to Rs 45,000.Truck rates to Calcutta swindled to Rs 18,600, marking a Rs 900 decrease while rates to Siliguri fell by Rs 2,700 to touch Rs 22,500.The freight rates to south, except for Kerala also decreased in the range of Rs 200 to Rs 500. While, rates to Hyderabad fell by Rs 400 to Rs 6,200, the freight rates to Vizag increased by Rs 400 to Rs 9,400.
