Mumbai, Oct 14: Groundnut oil ruled steady at the improved level on the oil, oilseeds market here today. Castorseed and its oil, on the other hand, bounced back on covering by bears and shippers.Groundnut oil remained unchanged at Rs 625 per 10 kg amidst tight supplies. But seasonal buying was slow at higher level. In Rajkot, prices closed lower by Rs 20 to Rs 800 per 15 kg. Meanwhile, Gujarat government has decided to lift ban on inter-state sale of edible oil from November, it was reliably learnt. After hearing the news the sentiment of the city market was subdued in the late evening, according to a dealer. Weakly delivery was quoted lower at Rs 610 per quintal.
Imported palm oil slide by a rupee at Rs 384 per 10 kg exclusive of tax on fresh inflow at Mumbai port. But overseas market remained static.
In the global market, palm oil was quiet at $697.50 for ready delivery while long deliveries were available at $682/670 per tonne.
Castor oil shot by Rs 5 to Rs 430/442 per 10 kg on renewed overseasenquiries and covering by shippers. Castorseed ready settled higher at Rs 1962/1968 per quintal on fear of delay in the new crop arrivals due to unseasonal rain in the producing centres.
In the futures section castorseed December delivery finished Rs 30 higher at Rs 1690 per quintal on fresh bull loading amidst fear that unseasonal rain may even affect the size of new crop supplies, according to floor sources.
In Ahmedabad, December delivery moved up from Rs 1755 to Rs 1783 per quintal. Ready delivery rose to Rs 395 per 20 kg. Castor oil placed at Rs 435/440 per 10 kg. Hyderabad advices were firm today.
Bullion suffers: Gold and silver suffered fresh losses on the bullion market here today.
Gold fell by Rs 10 to Rs 4,340 per 10 gm. Gold .22 carat dropped by same margin at Rs 4,015 per 10 gm. Gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) slipped by Rs 200 to Rs 50,900 per piece. Seasonal demand was dull while weak overseas advices prompted profit taking. Weak trend in dollar value against rupee also subdued thesentiment of the market. In the global market, gold slide to $295.65 per an ounce.
Meanwhile, silver .999 finished Rs 40 lower at Rs 7,385 per kg. In the ready section silver .916 fell by Rs 5 to Rs 7,285 per kg. Industrial and festival demand was sluggish, while steady overseas advices and weak trend in the global prices put pressure on the local market. In the international market, the white metal closed lower at $4.79 per an ounce. Delhi and Ahmedabad advices were discouraging.
Sugar steady
A steady trend prevailed on the sugar market. Activity was modest.M-30 ruled at Rs 1455-1485 and S-30 at Rs 1468-1490 a quintal ex-godown. Ex-octroi checkpost, M-30 were on offer at Rs 1465-1475 and S-30 at Rs 1440-1460.
In tenders, M-30 were indicated at Rs 1415-1425 and S-30 at Rs 1395-1410 in Kolhapur line.
Cotton firm
A firm tendency prevailed on the cotton market following rains in many centres.
Arrivals in Punjab zone consisted of 3500 bales of Bengal deshi and 2000 bales of J-34.Inclement weather affected the arrivals to pick. The price of J-34 were placed higher by Rs 5 to 10 a maund. Ready ruled at Rs 1760-1840 and November at Rs 1725-1760 spot.
Bengal deshi ready at Rs 1275-1330 and November at Rs 1265-1280 were steady.There were reports of rain in Gujarat and MP. This had pushed up the price of Sanker by Rs 100 to 200 a candy at Rs 19,900-20,300 for new crop ready goods. V-797 were steady at Rs 15,300-15,700.
Grains steady
A quietly steady trend was noticed on the grains market as the activity turned sluggish due to proximity of Diwali related holidays.
Wheat milling were placed at Rs 705-710 a quintal. Wheat north Gujarat Tukadi were traded at Rs 765-825 . Saurashtra Lokvan were traded at Rs 775-850 and SW at Rs 900-1125. MP 147 and Sarbati were placed at Rs 800-900 and at Rs 900-1300 respectively. Rice SLO were quoted at Rs 1125-1150. Gujarat-17 rice were in demand at Rs 1600-1700. AP Kattar ruled at Rs 1075-1125 and Permal superior at Rs 1250-1300.
Amongpulses, green peas USA were placed at Rs 1600-1625 and Canadian at Rs 1031-1041. White peas Canadian ready and incoming were mentioned at Rs 901-911 aand at Rs 900 respectively.
Yarn listless
A listless condition prevailed on the yarn market. Viscose filament yarn bright cones first quality Century Rayon 150dn ruled at Rs 224, 120dn at Rs 247, 100dn at Rs 260 and 75dn at Rs 269 a kg. Among coarse denitres, 180dn were placed at Rs 214, 225dn at Rs 180, 300dn at Rs 166, 450dn at Rs 150 and 600dn at Rs 144. 120dn dull cones were on offer at Rs 256. Nylon yarn Shreelon 15/1/0dn and 20/1/0dn were on offer at Rs 240 and at Rs 225 respectively. Gujnil 30/1/0dn ruled at Rs 290 and 111/24/0dn at Rs 157.
