New Delhi, Sept 18: In a fresh bid to revive the controversial Bangalore international airport project, the centre and Karnataka on Friday decided to constitute a three-member committee including a representative of the Tata consortium to thrash contentious issues. This was decided at a meeting between Karnataka chief minister JH Patel and ministers of defence and civil aviation George Fernandes and Ananth Kumar here.
State government sources said the committee would study issues like aerospace management, landing and parking fees, and other related issues. Ananth kumar said as far as his ministry was concerned, all the problems were resolved and it was left to the state government to talk to the Tatas to persuade them to nominate their representative.
Fernandes said on the aerospace management between Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Devanahalli project and the two adjacent training schools, he would have a discussion with officials and report to the committee.
In July last, the Tata consortiumcomprising Tata, the US-based Raytheon and Changi Airports Authority of Singapore decided to pull out of the project citing undue delay and violation of the memorandum of understanding.
