Boost investor faith
The government has taken a series of initiatives to infuse some life into the moribund primary market. It has made it easier for infrastructure companies to access the market. The Reserve Bank has relaxed the norms for funding brokers and market-makers. Sebi has decided that all new issues will be in dematerialised form. The hope obviously is that these measures will revive the market, enabling promoters to raise the money required for new projects.
Congress charts cource to regain power
The Congress declaration at Panchmarhi has two amusing aspects. One, it is assumed that the Congress is one party, not an odd union of many internecine factions. Two, it is willing to wield power, if possible alone, otherwise as a coalition partner, by retaining its basic ideology and character.
German Remedies springs surprise
The first-quarter performance from German Remedies had the potential to undermine the expected pace of earnings for the entire current year. The company had announced a net profit of Rs 1.7 crore for the first quarter, which was way below the market expectations.
