Ashok Leyland plumps for 3-day week yet again
Commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland Ltd (ALL) is slamming the brakes hard to keep pace with the relentless recession in the transport sector. The company has finalised a fresh lay-off programme, effective September 4. From this date, ALL's plants will work only for three days a week.
AES to take over OPGC management by December
AES Transpower, the US utility company, will take over the management of the state-owned Orissa Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) within three months. AES's offer of Rs 603 crore to acquire 49 per cent stake in OPGC was approved by the Orissa cabinet on Tuesday.
BPL plans automobile-components foray
The Nambiars-owned BPL group is diversifying into the automobile components manufacturing segment. It is at present in talks with leading automobile producers for the same. However, the group has not yet decided about the exact location for manufacturing the products.
